Im neuen X10 Motor von Cummins, der f\u00fcr schwere bis mittelschwere Nutzfahrzeuge bestimmt ist, kommt erstmals die neue HPD-Motorbremse (High-Power-Density) von Cummins Valvetrain Technologies zum Einsatz. Der X10 leistet rund 450 PS bei maximal 2.237 Nm und ist Teil der kraftstoffunabh\u00e4ngigen HELM-Motorenreihe (Higher Efficiency, Lower Emissions, Multiple Fuels) von Cummins. Das Aggregat ersetzt den L9- als auch den X12-Motor.<\/p>\n

Mehr Bremsleistung<\/h3>\n

Die von Cummins f\u00fcr den Motor spezifizierte 1,5-Takt-HPD-Motorbremse bietet kleinen und mittelgro\u00dfen Motoren eine h\u00f6here Bremsleistung. Sie erzeugt bei hohen Motordrehzahlen bis zu 40 Prozent mehr zus\u00e4tzliche Bremskraft als herk\u00f6mmliche Dekompressionsbremsen. Bei Reisegeschwindigkeit und niedrigeren Drehzahlen, bietet die Motorbremse laut Cummins Verbesserungen bei der Bremsleistung von bis zu einhundert Prozent.
\nEine herk\u00f6mmliche Motorbremse weist pro Nockenumdrehung des Motors einen Dekompressionsvorgang (CR) und einen Bremsgasr\u00fcckf\u00fchrungsvorgang (BGR) auf. Bei der 1,5-Takt-HPD hingegen erfolgt mittels Zylinderabschaltung (Jacobs Cylinder Deactivation, CDA), eine Deaktivierung des Haupt-Auslasses. So sind zwei Dekompressionsvorg\u00e4nge pro Nockenumdrehung m\u00f6glich. Beim ersten CR-Vorgang erfolgt eine Standard-Ansaugung. Bei der zweiten Dekompression wird die Leistung durch die R\u00fcckf\u00fchrung von Abgasen aus dem Abgaskr\u00fcmmer erreicht, ohne dass Luft aus dem Ansaugtrakt angesaugt wird. F\u00fcr den X10 werden zwei HPD-Motorbremsen angeboten, eine Dreizylinder- und eine Sechszylinder-Version.<\/p>\n

High-Power-Density<\/h3>\n

HPD ist Teil des gemeinsamen modularen Konstruktionsbaukastens von Cummins Valvetrain Technologies. Das bedeutet, dass je nach lokalen Marktanforderungen andere Ventiltriebtechnologien integriert oder entfernt werden k\u00f6nnen. \u201eDie HPD-Motorbremse passt optimal zum Cummins X10-Motor<\/a>. Zahlreiche Anwendungen des Aggregats erfordern eine hohe Bremsleistung\u201c<\/em>, so RaNae Isaak, Programmleiterin des X10 bei Cummins.
\nDie HPD-Motorbremse wurde von dem Ventiltrieb- und Motorbremsen-Spezialisten Jacobs Vehicle Systems entwickelt. Das Unternehmen wurde 2022 von Cummins \u00fcbernommen und firmiert seither als Cummins Valvetrain Technologies.<\/p>\n
